On warfarin, or a blood thinner
Ginseng interacts with warfarin, and vitamin E works against vitamin K clotting. Speak to your doctor first.
Seven actives, 815 mg of plant material and one amino acid, plus 30 IU of vitamin E. Below is every one of them with its weight, its Latin name, the name a Hakeem would use, and what the published work does and does not support.
Start with the reason this page exists. Hamdard sells Gulmundene for frequent urination in men over forty and does not print what is in it. Ajmal sells Ghadudi for enlarged prostate and does not print what is in it. Prolan asks between six and eleven thousand rupees and does not print what is in it.
A man handing over ten thousand rupees ought to be able to read the label and then read up on every line of it. So here is the label, and then the reading.
Weights are per capsule, not per serving, and not per jar. One capsule daily is the full dose.
| Active | Per capsule | Unani name and class | What it is doing here |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tribulus Terrestris extract Khar-e-Khasak Khurd · Gokhru | 350 mg | Mudirr-e-Baul — the diuretic class of the Unani pharmacopoeia | Protodioscin makes the vessel wall respond more strongly to nitric oxide. Measured on tissue: relaxation to acetylcholine up 10 per cent, to nitroglycerine up 24 per cent, after eight weeks of oral dosing. |
| Withania Somnifera Asgand Nagori | 300 mg | Muqawwi — the tonic class of the Unani pharmacopoeia | The stress axis. In 64 people over 60 days, cortisol fell 27.9 per cent against 7.9 per cent on placebo. Lower cortisol means smooth muscle that is not being held tense around the clock. |
| Asphaltum Punjabianum Salajeet | 50 mg | Classically used for genito-urinary complaints across this region | Fulvic acids and dibenzo-alpha-pyrones. Protects mitochondrial function and cuts oxidative load — malondialdehyde in seminal fluid down 18.7 per cent over 90 days. Purified and batch-tested for heavy metals. |
| L-Arginine | 50 mg | — | The amino acid the body builds nitric oxide from. A modern addition with no Unani history, and we are not going to invent one for it. |
| Panax Ginseng extract Jinseng | 50 mg | Not a classical Unani drug — an East Asian plant that entered South Asian dispensaries in the last century | The only ingredient in this formula with a human trial on urinary symptoms: IPSS significantly better than placebo at week six and week twelve. Ginsenosides switch on the enzyme that produces nitric oxide. |
| Vitamin E | 30 IU | — | Thirty IU is roughly the daily requirement for an adult man — deliberately, because it keeps the dose thirteen times below the 400 IU that raised prostate cancer risk in the SELECT trial. |
| Crocus Sativus Zafran | 15 mg | Mudirr-e-Baul and Muqawwi-e-Qalb — diuretic and heart tonic. Ibn Sina wrote about it. | Crocin and safranal relax smooth muscle and carry antioxidant activity. Fifteen milligrams sits at the low end of the studied range, and it is here for the mechanism rather than the headline. |
815 mg of actives plus 30 IU vitamin E. Capsule shell is plant-based — nothing of animal origin goes into it.
Every prostate supplement sold in this country leans on the same sentence: it blocks 5-alpha reductase, so it lowers DHT, so the gland behaves. It is a good sentence. It is also, for herbal formulas, unsupported in human beings.
Tribulus was put through a screen of eleven herbs specifically to test 5-alpha reductase inhibition and did not make the shortlist. Ginseng does down-regulate the enzyme — in rats. In the one human trial where ginseng moved urinary symptoms, testosterone and DHT did not budge at all. So whatever was working there, it was not the androgen story.
What our formula does reach falls into three groups, and explaining those properly is more use to you than a sentence we cannot stand behind.
The bladder neck and the prostatic urethra are wrapped in nerves that release nitric oxide, and nitric oxide is the signal that lets that muscle relax. This is the dynamic half of the obstruction — the half that alpha blockers work on, and the half that moves in days rather than months.
Nitric oxide is built from arginine. That is all this ingredient does here, and we will be straight about the dose: the trials that showed an effect on erectile function used 1,500 to 5,000 mg a day. Fifty milligrams is a fraction of that and a fraction of what you get from a plate of daal. It is in the formula as part of the pathway, not as the engine.
Ginsenosides induce the enzyme that produces nitric oxide in the vessel wall. Ginseng is also the only ingredient in this formula with a human trial on urinary symptoms: 88 men aged 40 to 75, twelve weeks, and the IPSS score — residual urine, frequency, intermittency, urgency, weak stream, straining, night trips — came out significantly better than placebo at week six and held at week twelve. That trial used red ginseng oil, a different form from ours, and a higher dose — which is the caveat, and we would rather print it than hope you miss it.
Protodioscin, the active in Tribulus, makes the vessel wall respond more strongly to nitric oxide. Measured directly on tissue after eight weeks of oral dosing: relaxation to acetylcholine up 10 per cent, to nitroglycerine up 24 per cent. Remove the endothelium or block nitric oxide synthase and the effect disappears — which is how we know the pathway is the mechanism. What Tribulus does not do is raise testosterone; a meta-analysis of eight trials found no difference from placebo.
A trial on 98 men used exactly this combination — protodioscin, ginsenosides and L-arginine in one tablet — for three months. Every IIEF-5 parameter improved, and the difference against control was significant in the men who were not diabetic. In the diabetic group there was no difference from placebo. That is the kind of detail most labels leave out.
A man getting up three times a night is sleeping in ninety-minute pieces, and broken sleep pushes cortisol up. High cortisol keeps smooth muscle tense. The symptom feeds the thing that makes the symptom worse, and that loop is why some men get steadily worse without anything new happening in the gland.
The best-documented herb in the world for this loop. Sixty-four people, sixty days, 300 mg twice daily: cortisol down 27.9 per cent from baseline against 7.9 per cent on placebo. A separate 16-week crossover in 57 men aged 40 to 70 put salivary testosterone up 14.7 per cent and DHEA-S up 18 per cent against placebo. In that same trial, self-reported energy and sexual wellbeing did not separate from placebo — so we are quoting the hormone result as a hormone result, nothing more.
Works the same axis and protects the mitochondria that broken sleep has been draining. In 75 healthy men aged 45 to 55 on purified Salajeet for 90 days, total testosterone, free testosterone and DHEA-S all rose significantly while LH and FSH stayed in range. You will see a figure of “20 per cent” attached to that study across the internet. It is not in the paper. We are not going to repeat it.
Tissue that has been working for fifty years carries more oxidative damage than it clears. Salajeet dropped malondialdehyde — the standard marker — by 18.7 per cent in seminal fluid over 90 days in men with low sperm counts. Zafran and vitamin E cover the same ground from the antioxidant side.
Now the part that matters more than any of that. In 2024, scientists at PCSIR Lahore tested Salajeet samples and found roughly 65 metals in them, lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury among them. Some samples sat inside WHO limits. Others did not. Their conclusion was blunt: taking Salajeet without knowing its metal content is not safe.
Both clinical studies on Salajeet used purified material. So does NixMen — purified, and tested batch by batch before it goes near a capsule. The sticky black lump sold by weight in a bazaar is a different product with the same name, and this is the single biggest reason our jar costs what it does.
On vitamin E we made the opposite kind of decision. Thirty IU is roughly a grown man’s daily requirement — thirteen times below the 400 IU that raised prostate cancer risk in the SELECT trial across 35,533 men. We put it in at the physiological dose deliberately, and we are not going to tell you it protects anybody from anything.

| Active | In NixMen | In the trials | What that means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Withania Somnifera | 300 mg | 600–675 mg/day | Half the studied dose |
| Tribulus Terrestris | 350 mg | 1,500 mg/day | Under a quarter |
| Asphaltum Punjabianum | 50 mg | 200–500 mg/day | A tenth to a quarter |
| Crocus Sativus | 15 mg | 15–200 mg | At the bottom of the studied range |
| Panax Ginseng | 50 mg | 2,700 mg/day of root | Extract, so not directly comparable — but low |
| L-Arginine | 50 mg | 1,500–5,000 mg/day | Far below; present as part of the pathway |
| Vitamin E | 30 IU | RDA 15 mg | At the daily requirement, by design |
A formula is a set of compromises inside one capsule. Seven actives at trial doses would be a handful of tablets a day and nobody would take them. What we would not do is print the trial results and hide the doses, which is the standard practice in this category.
Ginseng interacts with warfarin, and vitamin E works against vitamin K clotting. Speak to your doctor first.
Ginseng can add to the glucose-lowering effect. Worth telling the doctor who manages your sugar.
Ashwagandha can nudge T4 upward. If you are on levothyroxine or have an overactive thyroid, ask first.
Stop two weeks before any planned operation. Standard practice with vitamin E.

Yes. Seven plant and nutrient actives in a plant-based capsule shell. No gelatin, nothing of animal origin at any stage.
If you want one name: ginseng, because it is the only one in the formula with a human trial on urinary symptoms. If you want the honest answer: the three that feed the nitric oxide pathway do so together, and they have been tested together.
It comes from Gilgit-Baltistan, and it is purified and tested for lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury before it goes into a capsule. That testing is the difference between our Salajeet and the kind sold loose by weight.
No. Saw palmetto is the single herb most of the Pakistani supplements are built on, and it is a reasonable ingredient. We went a different way: three actives on the nitric oxide pathway, two on the stress axis, two on oxidative load.
Ashwagandha and Salajeet each moved testosterone in their own trials, at doses higher than ours. Tribulus did not — eight randomised trials, no difference from placebo. We would not buy this jar expecting a hormone result.
At these doses, uncommon. The interactions worth knowing are listed above — warfarin, diabetes tablets, thyroid medicines, and planned surgery. If you take any of those, ask your doctor before you start rather than after.
